RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation, through the Class I Bandung Railway Engineering Center, has begun a trial operation of the skybridge at Bandung Station to improve accessibility for passengers of Whoosh High-Speed Train who will use the feeder train service.
The trial aims to anticipate passenger congestion ahead of the 2026/1447 H Eid transportation period. Previously, feeder train passengers used the same access as long-distance train passengers.
Head of the Class I Bandung Railway Engineering Center, Endang Setiawan, said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday that the trial operation is intended to improve passenger flow so that it is not concentrated at a single point in the station.
“The trial operation of the Bandung skybridge is a form of DJKA’s support for the operation of the high-speed train as well as an effort to improve transportation services,” Endang said in Bandung, Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Endang also said the use of the skybridge is considered more effective and efficient because the distance passengers need to travel to reach the feeder train becomes shorter.
He also explained that since March 10, 2026, feeder train passenger activities have been moved to the High-Speed Train Feeder Hall located on the eastern side of Bandung Station.
In addition, Endang urged feeder train passengers to adjust to the designated access points for boarding, alighting, and waiting areas, and advised them not to arrive at the station too close to the train’s departure time.
He added that the trial operation will also serve as an evaluation for DJKA in preparing for the expected increase in passenger numbers during the 2026/1447 H Eid transportation period.
