RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto called on Indonesians to reflect on the meaning of each verse of the Qur’an and to apply its values in national life during the state commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an at the State Palace on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Nuzulul Qur’an, observed during Ramadan, marks the revelation of the Qur’an to theProphet Muhammad. For Muslims, it is a moment of deep reflection and devotion, often commemorated on the 17th day of Ramadan, and closely associated with the last ten nights when Lailatul Qadar, the Night of Decree, is believed to occur.

“This commemoration is an opportunity for all of us to understand and absorb the meaning of what is taught in the Qur’an,” President Prabowo said.

He hopes e that the occasion would bring blessings to the Indonesian people, noting that the 21st night of Ramadan, one of the odd nights in the final ten days, is believed to be when Lailatul Qadar descends. “May this add goodness and blessings for all of us,” he added.

Muslim scholar Prof. Muhammad Quraish Shihab also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the Qur’an’s message of peace. He explained that peace begins within the human soul and extends outward to society and the world. “Allah commands us to realize peace. Peace begins in our hearts and flows into our community and the wider world,” he said.

Quraish Shihab underscored that peace is a universal aspiration shared by humanity and religions, and the Qur’an strongly encourages Muslims to accept peace, even when offered by those considered adversaries. “Peace is the longing of all people, the longing of all religions. The Qur’an states that if your enemy invites you to peace, then accept it,” he noted.

He further explained that the Qur’an provides guidance toward various paths of peace that ultimately lead humanity to the straight path. However, he stressed that peace must go hand in hand with justice. “We want peace, but we do not want to sacrifice justice. We want peace, but justice must also be upheld,” he said. ***
