RRI.CO.ID, Flores – The state-owned energy company, Pertamina, confirmed that most gas stations in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, had resumed operations on Monday, August 17, 2026. This energy recovery effort was undertaken to support post-disaster relief following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the region.
Pertamina President Director, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, personally inspected the affected areas to oversee the distribution of humanitarian aid and ensure the availability of energy supplies, according to a written press release. Simon’s presence represents a tangible commitment to supporting the community affected by the disaster.
As well as gradually restoring gas station operations, Pertamina is also preparing a special supply of diesel fuel for heavy equipment along the Trans-Flores route. This step is being taken to accelerate the removal of landslide debris so that connectivity on the main roads can be restored as soon as possible.
Addressing the fuel shortage in Nagekeo and ensuring a sufficient supply of jet fuel at the Labuan Bajo and Maumere airports are also top priorities. These efforts are being made to support the smooth mobilization of logistical aid and the operations of emergency response centers throughout the affected areas.
Simon expressed his condolences in person while visiting the disaster site in East Nusa Tenggara. He emphasized that Pertamina is focused on prioritizing the safety of residents and meeting their basic needs during the recovery period.
“On behalf of the entire Pertamina family, I express my deepest condolences for the loss of life and my concern for all affected communities. In accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, Pertamina is on the ground to support accelerated disaster response, with the safety and fulfillment of residents’ basic needs as our top priorities. The people of East Nusa Tenggara are not alone,” he said.
Emergency aid in the form of tents, medicines, sanitation supplies, and basic food items continues to be distributed through the Pertamina Peduli program. All levels of Pertamina are actively coordinating with local governments and relevant agencies to ensure that aid is distributed to the right recipients.
