RRI.CO.ID, Bogor - Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 218 bridges across various regions in Indonesia. The inauguration took place via hybrid video conference from Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Monday, 9 March 2026. The President was accompanied by Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, the Indonesian Minister of Defense.

The 218 bridges were built by the Bridge Task Force over a period of approximately two and a half months. This bridge construction is part of an effort to accelerate infrastructure provision to improve connectivity between regions in Indonesia.

Of the total bridges inaugurated, 59 were Bailey bridges, 82 were Armco bridges, and 77 were pioneer or suspension bridges. These various types of bridges were built to suit the geographic conditions and transportation access needs of each region.

Bailey and Armco bridges are generally used as quick solutions to connect disrupted transportation routes, especially in disaster-affected areas. Meanwhile, pioneering or suspension bridges are often built in remote areas with difficult-to-reach terrain.

The inauguration of these hundreds of bridges is part of the government's commitment to accelerating basic infrastructure development throughout Indonesia. This infrastructure is considered crucial for supporting public mobility, logistics distribution, and driving regional economic growth.

Furthermore, bridge construction is also focused on areas that previously experienced limited transportation access. With the new bridges, it is hoped that community activities in the education, health, and trade sectors will run more smoothly.

In his remarks, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia has a vast and complex geography, as well as a high potential risk of natural disasters. Therefore, the development of resilient and responsive infrastructure is crucial.

The event was also attended by the Minister of State Secretary, the Cabinet Secretary, the Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI), the Deputy Commander of the TNI, and the Head of the Defense Logistics Agency at the Ministry of Defense. The presence of these officials signifies cross-ministerial and institutional support in strengthening national infrastructure development.
