RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR), Dave Laksono, commented on the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander’s Telegram Number TR/283/2026, which raised the military’s alert status to Level One. The Golkar politician said the measure reflects the military’s commitment to safeguarding national security.

He explained that the Alert One status demonstrates the defense apparatus's readiness to respond to global developments and provides reassurance to the public. “Current developments in the Middle East demand vigilance. Commission I of the DPR views this policy as part of a strategy to strengthen national resilience,” Dave said in a press statement in Jakarta on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Dave also underlined the importance of synergy between the TNI, the Ministry of Defense, and Commission I of the DPR. He said such coordination ensures that every step taken remains aligned with the interests of the people. “It is carried out openly and fosters public trust. With solid coordination between institutions, Indonesia will remain safe, stable, and capable of facing global challenges,” he said.

He added that Commission I supports the TNI’s anticipatory measures, particularly in fulfilling its oversight function and strategic partnerships. “Through close collaboration, Indonesia can face global dynamics, maintain national stability, and strengthen public trust in state institutions,” Dave said.

Meanwhile, Commission I lawmaker TB Hasanuddin explained that the alert status within the TNI is a standard mechanism to ensure troop readiness. “In the TNI, the term ‘alert’ refers to preparing personnel, defense equipment, and logistics so they are ready to carry out duties at any time. There are three levels of readiness: Alert Three, Alert Two, and Alert One,” said the PDIP politician in a press statement on Sunday.

He elaborated that Alert Three is a relatively normal condition, with unit activities proceeding as usual and no special troop concentration. Alert Two indicates a higher level of readiness, with some forces on standby while others continue routine activities. Alert One is the highest level, requiring all troops to be concentrated, defense equipment to be prepared, and individual logistics to be ready.

“The alert status can vary by region. For example, one Military Regional Command (Kodam) could be at Alert Level One, while another region might be at Alert Level Two or Three,” Hasanuddin said.

Previously, information circulated regarding the TNI Commander’s Telegram Number TR/283/2026. The telegram instructed all ranks of the TNI to adopt Alert Level One in anticipation of an escalation of conflict in the Middle East.

The telegram contained seven instructions, including orders for the Commander of the Main Operations Command to place personnel and defense equipment on alert. It also directed patrols at vital strategic locations and economic centers, such as airports, sea and river ports, train stations, bus terminals, and state-owned electricity company (PLN) offices.
