RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government has tightened monitoring of food supply and prices entering mid-Ramadan 1447H nationwide. Authorities focus on beef, chicken meat, as well as the government-issued cooking oil Minyakita as strategic commodities influencing inflation developments.
the Head of the National Food Agency and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, said price fluctuations were not caused by limited supply. He stated that available stock remains sufficient, indicating irregularities within the food distribution chain.
He explained that from the supply side there are no problems affecting availability nationwide. The government has already ensured sufficient supply through various policies implemented earlier.
All import recommendations for live cattle since December 2025 have already been issued completely. These approvals were finalized by the Ministry of Agriculture, ensuring there should be no supply constraints.
After the Food Supply and Price Stabilization coordination meeting, Minister Amran addressed distribution issues. He affirmed there should be no problem, since all cattle import recommendations since December 2025 have already been issued.
"We ask the vendors to release the meat, do not let the price rises," said the minister.
Therefore, the government will not tolerate speculation harming consumers during Ramadan and Eid periods. Authorities requested law enforcement agencies act quickly against actors exploiting Ramadan to gain excessive profits.
Regarding Minyakita, the government requested state-owned food companies increase distribution above 35 percent nationally. Officials stressed enforcement should target large distributors and producers violating regulations, not small retailers.
As quoted by National Food Agency offiicial website, the national average price data as of 4 March 2026 showed chicken meat at Rp40,192 per kilogram. While Minyakita averaged Rp15,907 per liter while beef rose slightly to Rp135,293 per kilogram nationally.
