RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) held the National Planning Meeting (Rapernas) for the Year 2026 at the BMKG Headquarters in Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026. The event, which took place over two days, March 2-3, 2026, was conducted in a hybrid format, with participants attending both in-person and online via Zoom Meeting.

In his speech, the Head of BMKG, Teuku Faisal Fathani, highlighted that as the understanding of BMKG's duties increases to the level of Balai and UPT, there is a significant responsibility ahead. He emphasized that every aspect of BMKG, including Work Units (Satker), will always be demanded and challenged to continue growing.

"That is the essence of our theme today: 'Supporting the Acceleration of Quality Growth.'" We will continue to grow because times keep changing, and so does the climate," Faisal stated.

In addition, Faisal also encourages innovation in the dissemination of information to the regions. He requested responsive two-way information coordination between the Center and the Regions.

"The purpose of this National Coordination Meeting is to formulate strategies, affirm priorities, and strengthen planning synergy between the central and regional levels. This is to ensure that the direction of BMKG's planning aligns with national policies," he said.

Faisal gave an example, if the Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (MHEWS) at the Center detects the potential for extreme weather in a certain area (for example, West Java), the system must be able to immediately send a warning to the Provincial Coordinator in that region. From the Provincial Coordinator, the information can be directly blasted to local stakeholders in real-time.

Thru the 2026 National Coordination Meeting, BMKG reaffirms its commitment to providing adaptive, efficient, and impactful planning, so that meteorological, climatological, and geophysical services become increasingly reliable, trustworthy, and relevant in supporting sustainable national development.
