The Director of Non-Communicable Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi at the 2026 World Hearing Day Media Briefing at Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026, emphasized that hearing screenings are now an integral part of CKG services.

"Hearing screenings are one of the existing screenings for everyone from newborns to the elderly," she said.

This step is considered crucial because hearing loss often goes unnoticed, even though its impact can affect children's learning abilities, work-age productivity, and even the quality of life of the elderly. By including hearing screening in the CKG program, the ministry is striving to ensure early and equitable detection across all regions.

Entering 2026, the implementation of the CKG continues. According to the data provided by the ministry, 4.1 millions of people have undergone screening, of which 51,000 or 1.24 percent were those with ear disorders.

These findings form the basis for follow-up, including further examinations, treatment, and rehabilitation tailored to the patient's needs. The government considers the mass screening approach through CKG to be effective as a preventative measure to reduce the risk of untreated hearing loss.

CKG is expected to become not only a routine screening program but also as the early detection system, capable of preventing the long-term impacts of hearing loss in Indonesia.
