RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The discourse on deploying Indonesian Military (TNI) troops to Gaza, Palestine, on a peacekeeping mission has received support from parliament.

Lawmaker Nurul Arifin of the House of Representatives’ Commission I said the assignment could enhance soldiers’ capabilities in multinational coordination and humanitarian crisis response.

“There are many situations that require the presence of troops to maintain stability without engaging in combat operations,” Nurul said in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She emphasized that Indonesia’s involvement must remain grounded in its constitutional mandate to participate in maintaining world order, based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice.

Nurul noted that security stability is a key requirement for reconstruction and social recovery in Gaza. Without security guarantees, the distribution of humanitarian aid and infrastructure reconstruction would be difficult to carry out effectively.

Nurul urged the government to ensure that the legal basis and mission mandate are clearly formulated. “As long as the mandate is clear, focused on civil and humanitarian protection, and does not shift to military operations, I see this as a constructive step,” she said.

She also highlighted the importance of open communication with the public and maximum protection for Indonesian personnel, stressing that clarity on the rules of engagement must be a priority in any overseas assignment.

Nurul added that participation in Gaza could strengthen Indonesia’s position in international forums as a country that consistently supports world peace. “When there is room to contribute directly to maintaining stability and helping civilians, it is certainly part of our moral and political responsibility,” she said. ***
