RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The main events of Imlek Festival 2577 officially began in Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta on Sunday, 22 February 2026. The event continues the Lunar New Year celebrations that have taken place since 13 February 2026, in several cities across Indonesia.

Under the theme “Harmoni Imlek Nusantara” (Harmony of Lunar New Year Across the Archipelago), the festival will run until 3 March 2026. This year’s celebration is being held during the holy month of Ramadan.

The festival offers an inclusive space for the public. In one area, visitors can enjoy cultural performances, explore hundreds of local brands at the bazaar, find dishes for iftar (breaking the fast), and shop for Eid necessities.

This cross-cultural encounter reflects the harmonious diversity of the Indonesian archipelago in real practice. People from diverse backgrounds are seen celebrating together in a spirit of unity.

Chairperson of the Imlek Festival 2577 Committee, Irene Umar, who also serves as Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, stated that Harmoni Imlek Nusantara is more than an annual celebration. She emphasized that the festival is designed as a platform for cultural and creative economy collaboration, open to everyone.

“For eight full days, there will be many surprises to showcase Bhinneka Tunggal Ika—Indonesia’s extraordinary richness. That is the beauty of Harmoni Imlek Nusantara, presented during the month of Ramadan,” Irene Umar said.

The main highlight on 28 February 2026, at Lapangan Banteng is scheduled to be attended by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and members of the Merah Putih Cabinet. Their presence symbolizes the government’s support for cultural celebrations that strengthen national unity.
