Indonesia Can Be a Strategic Production Base for US: President

RRI.CO.ID, Washington, D.C. - President Prabowo Subianto offered strategic partnership opportunities to US businesses to accelerate the national industrialization agenda. This step is part of the President's official visit to the US, which will also include the signing of bilateral trade agreements.

The President emphasized that Indonesia is opening up broad opportunities for collaboration with global investors. “We look forward to finding partners who are ready to join our ongoing efforts to modernize and industrialize our country,” said the President at a Business Forum with the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, local time, as quoted by Antara.

The President added that the government guarantees business certainty through regulations that support investment. “I think this is a significant agreement for businesses and investors from both countries, and for the wider Pacific region,” he said.

According to the President, this cooperation affirms Indonesia's and the US's commitment to expanding market access and increasing business certainty. The government is also encouraging industrial downstreaming through the Danantara Indonesia sovereign wealth fund, which is currently running 18 new projects this year.

The President believes that Indonesia can become a strategic production base for American companies. “Indonesia can be seen as a good strategic partner for this region,” he said.

The President said that the national economic fundamentals remain solid with growth above 5 percent and inflation under control. The government also consistently maintains fiscal discipline to attract foreign investment. ***

The President revealed that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) was excellent, reaching USD 53 billion last year. “This reflects confidence in our economy, the size of our market, growth potential, political stability, and the direction of our policies,” he said. ***
