RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported relatively conducive weather during the upcoming Eid 2026. However, high intensity rainfall potential remains in several Indonesian regions.
In a ministerial level meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday, 12 February 2026, the agency said Indonesia is currently at the peak rainy season. Rainfall is expected to gradually decline after January and February.
“First, we need to convey that we are still at the peak of the rainy season in January to February, then it will gradually decrease,” BMKG Head Teuku Faisal Fathani conveyed. He added that high intensity rain is still occurring across many regions.
As quoted by BMKG's website, rainfall is forecast from low to high categories along February this year. Very high rainfall may occur in West Java, Central Java, NTT, and South Sulawesi.
During March 2026, rainfall is predicted within moderate to high categories. Very high rainfall potential exists in West Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi, and Central Papua.
Weather from March 1 to 31 is generally cloudy to moderate rain. Light to moderate rain dominates early and late March periods.

Active atmospheric phenomena may influence Eid travel and return flows. These include the Asian Monsoon, MJO, atmospheric waves, and possible tropical cyclones.
Cumulonimbus cloud growth in March requires increased vigilance across several regions. Affected areas include West Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, NTT, Maluku, Papua, and surrounding oceans.
Potential impacts include turbulence and lightning along flight routes. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, wind gusts, and wind shear may affect aerodromes.
The meteorology agency also warned of potential coastal flooding in March 2026. The risk is linked to the New Moon and Perigee phases.
The agency then urged coastal communities to increase awareness of inundation risks. BMKG also advised the public to regularly update weather information via many platforms, including the ones the agency provides such as BMKG website and social media.
