RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia of Malaysia, Teo Nie Ching, appreciated the National Press Day (HPN) celebration, which she described as lively and involving various elements of the government and the media community. She expressed this while on a working visit to Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

Teo assessed that the presence of several ministers overseeing various portfolios demonstrates the government's strong support for the press. "Not only the Minister of Communication but also ministers overseeing other portfolios were present in large numbers. This shows that National Press Day is celebrated by high-level representatives on a grand scale," she said.

According to Teo, the situation makes the commemoration of National Press Day not just a formal ceremonial event. "For me, this is not just an event in a banquet hall, but it has become a carnival," she said, describing the lively atmosphere full of interaction among fellow media professionals.

She believes that this spirit reflects the strong determination of the press in Indonesia to uphold media freedom. "This shows the spirit of the media here, that they want to maintain media freedom to ensure that the media continues to function independently and professionally," explained Teo.

Amid the challenges of the digital era, Teo emphasized that the role of radio remains highly relevant as a medium for delivering accurate information. "In this digital age, I believe radio still has and plays a very important role in conveying precise information, including during daily commutes or while exercising," she said.

Previously, Teo Nie Ching also attended the peak commemoration of National Press Day (HPN) 2026 held in Serang, Banten, on Monday, February 9, 2026. Her involvement reaffirms Malaysia's support for strengthening the press and media with Indonesia.
