RRI.CO.ID, Penajam Paser Utara - The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan is officially ready to welcome the first major wave of state civil servants (ASN), marking its transition from a massive construction site to the functional heart of the Indonesian government.

OIKN officials confirmed on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, that basic services, ranging from advanced healthcare to international-standard education, are now operational or in the final stages of preparation.

This infrastructure is designed to ensure that the relocation of civil servants and their families is secure and comfortable.

“Basic service facilities in IKN are becoming more complete, and we are ready to welcome the transfer of ASN with a sense of safety, comfort, and confidence as we embrace Indonesia’s new government center,” said Troy Pantouw, Special Staff for Public Communication at the IKN Authority (OIKN), in Sepaku on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.

The activation of IKN as a working government hub is targeted to occur in stages throughout 2026, with 16 ministries and state agencies scheduled to begin routine activities within the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).

Troy emphasized that providing these services is a constitutional obligation to ensure civil servants can work effectively without worrying about their families' well-being.

The healthcare infrastructure in the new capital is already well-established to support incoming residents. Currently, healthcare readiness is anchored by four major hospitals, with three already fully operational within the KIPP: Hermina Nusantara Hospital, Mayapada Nusantara Hospital, and the Ministry of Health’s General Hospital (RSUP).

To ensure seamless access to care, insurance integration is in place: Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) services are available at Hermina and Mayapada, while the Employment Social Security Agency (BPJamsostek) is accessible throughout the KIPP area for work-related accidents and illnesses.

Education facilities are also keeping pace, with integrated schools spanning from early childhood education (PAUD) to high school (SMA) set to open for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Notable institutions such as Taruna Nusantara, Al-Azhar, and the Nusantara Intercultural School (NIS) are among those preparing to serve the new resident population.

Religious life is also a priority. The IKN State Mosque is slated to begin operations by Ramadan 1447 Hijri (early 2026), and OIKN is coordinating services across 12 mosques, 37 prayer rooms, and designated facilities for Christian worship throughout the residential and office zones.

"Basic services are the key so that ASN can move and work calmly in IKN," Troy concluded. ***
