RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is set to distribute essential food supplies to 33.2 million families, a nearly 82 percent increase in coverage compared to previous aid cycles, to stabilize domestic prices and support purchasing power before the Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr holidays.

The initiative, spearheaded by the National Food Agency (Bapanas) and the Ministry of Agriculture, targets households within the first to fourth deciles of the national welfare spectrum. 

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, who also heads Bapanas, informed a parliamentary hearing on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, that the government has allocated IDR 11.92 trillion to fund this dual-month stimulus.

"In order to maintain the stability of food supply prices, Bapanas is implementing strategic steps, one of which is the distribution of 10 kilograms of food aid and 2 liters of MinyaKita for two months to 33.2 million beneficiary families," Amran stated during a working meeting with Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), as quoted by Antara

The decision follows a high-level meeting of the Central Inflation Control Team (TPIP) held last week. Under the new agreement, aid for February and March 2026 will be delivered in a single payment to ensure families are prepared for the seasonal surge in food demand. 

Each beneficiary will receive 10 kilograms of rice and 2 liters of MinyaKita (subsidized cooking oil) for each month, totaling 20 kilograms of rice and 4 liters of oil per household for the period.

To facilitate this massive logistics operation, Perum Bulog will release approximately 664.8 thousand tons of rice and 132.9 thousand kiloliters of cooking oil from its national reserves. The scale of this intervention is significantly larger than in 2025, when the program reached only 18.2 million households. 

Amran emphasized that this expansion underscores the government's seriousness in protecting the public's purchasing power and ensuring that food inflation remains under control during the nation's most critical religious festivities.

To support the implementation, State Logistics Agency (Bulog) President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani confirmed that his agency is fully prepared to execute the distribution before the Eid holidays. 

"It has been determined that the food aid will be distributed to approximately 30 million beneficiaries in February and March. So, we have already prepared for February and March to immediately distribute the first phase of food aid in 2026," Rizal added.

The 2026 program follows a two-stage evolution from the previous year, where the government initially provided only rice before adding cooking oil to the assistance package later in 2025. ***
