RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital has announced the release of 13 stamp series throughout 2026, an initiative aimed at safeguarding the nation’s collective memory and providing a tangible record of Indonesia’s cultural and historical journey in an increasingly digital era.

Minister Meutya Hafid underscored that stamps serve as more than just postage; they are vital storytellers of Indonesia’s identity.

“We place stamps as part of our efforts to preserve Indonesia’s story of culture, history, and national identity,” Meutya said in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She explained that the 2026 collection is designed as a continuous narrative that reflects the country’s biodiversity, heritage, and international milestones.

The e-catalogue, prepared by the Directorate General of Digital Ecosystems, presents a diverse range of themes intended to appeal to both philatelists and the wider public.

Under the Cultural and Mythical category, the collection features the Fire Horse Year and the Pandawa Lima Wayang series, while Natural Heritage is represented through the Indonesian Fruit series.

History and Leadership are highlighted with stamps depicting artifacts and historic buildings of Palembang, alongside the official 2024–2029 President and Vice President series.

Global Diplomacy is showcased through joint stamp issues with Uruguay and special series commemorating Indonesia’s participation in major international philatelic exhibitions, including BOSTON 2026, MACAO 2026, BANDUNG 2026, and PHILATAIPEI 2026.

Despite the rapid shift toward digital communication, Minister Meutya emphasized that stamps remain deeply relevant as a bridge between generations. By documenting current events and traditional values on these small canvases, she said, the state ensures that Indonesia’s progress and identity are preserved for future generations.

The 2026 lineup is expected to spark renewed interest in philately while celebrating the “Great Indonesian Children” and the nation’s presence on the global stage. ***
