RRI.CO.ID, Clermont-Ferrand, France - Indonesia is participating in the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (CFISFF) 2026 in France as part of ongoing efforts to expand the global reach of its short films. Based on a press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia Sunday, 1 February, 2026, the participation aims to foster the position of Indonesian short films within the international festival and market ecosystem.

The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival is taking place from 30 January to 7 February 2026, with the Short Film Market scheduled for 2 to 5  February 2026. The festival is widely regarded as one of the most important global platforms for short films, bringing together filmmakers, distributors, and industry professionals from around the world.

The Indonesian delegation’s participation is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and coordinated by the National Talent Management for Arts and Culture. The curatorial process involves Minikino Film Week, Bali International Short Film Festival, as part of efforts to ensure the quality and competitiveness of Indonesian short films internationally.

Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, said Indonesia’s presence at the festival represents a strategic move to strengthen the global standing of Indonesian short films. “This participation is not only about competing, but also about building networks, opening market access, and expanding international collaboration opportunities,” he said.

Indonesia is represented in the international competition by One Tropical Rain of Love and Guilt, produced by Kawan Kawan Media. Written and directed by Sein Lyan Tun, the film is a cross-border co-production between Indonesia, Myanmar, and Thailand, reflecting the broad potential for regional collaboration in short film production.

Indonesian short films are also featured in several non-competition programs, including Basri and Salma in a Never-Ending Comedy by Khozy Rizal, Prenjak (In the Year of Monkey) by Wregas Bhanuteja, and Ragadi Maparo (Where the Wild Frangipanis Grow) by Nirartha Bas Dhiwangkara. Another Indonesian work, Knight of Blood, directed by Widya Arafah and Arjuna Asa, is showcased in the BLOOD program.

Beyond film screenings, Indonesian filmmakers are participating in professional platforms such as Talent Connexion, which connects creators with international industry professionals. Director General for Culture Development Ahmad Mahendra said the platform allows Indonesian talents to build global networks and gain international recognition.

“This international platform encourages Indonesian filmmakers to strengthen their global connections and ensures their works gain wider recognition,” Mahendra said.
