RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The government asserts that Indonesia's economic fundamentals remain strong amid global market dynamics and fluctuations in the rupiah exchange rate. The strength of the national economic foundation is believed to be the main factor supporting economic stability while also strengthening the resilience of the financial sector in the future.

Indonesia's Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, stated that the government is currently focused on maintaining the economic foundation so that national growth can continue and become even stronger.

"My duty is to maintain the economic foundation so that it continues to run and becomes stronger. In the end, we believe the rupiah will be determined by its economic foundation," Purbaya said after the Working Meeting, Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The government is also optimistic that the implementation of the Indonesian Resource Export Earnings Foreign Exchange (DHE-SDI) policy will strengthen national economic stability. This policy is expected to increase the availability of foreign exchange domestically by placing natural resource export earnings into the national financial system.

According to the Minister, the increase in foreign exchange supply will strengthen foreign currency liquidity in the domestic market while also supporting the stability of the rupiah exchange rate. Additionally, more integrated management of DHE-SDI is considered to strengthen the resilience of the financial sector in facing various global economic shocks.

The government assesses that short-term exchange rate movements are often influenced by sentiment and rumors circulating in the market. However, these factors are considered not to change the fundamental condition of Indonesia's economy, which remains on a strong path.

"The impact of the DHE-SDI policy should start to be seen in the near future. When the sentiment in the market begins to subside, supported by the influx of export foreign exchange into the country, the rupiah has the opportunity to strengthen again," he explained.

The government has underscored that the DHE-SDI policy is a strategic step to foster Indonesia's external resilience while ensuring that the benefits of national exports can contribute more significantly to the domestic economy. Moving forward, coordination with various relevant authorities will continue to be carried out to maintain the stability of the national economy and financial system amid global uncertainties.
