RTI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Tourism (Wamenpar) Ni Luh Puspa emphasized that Muslim-friendly tourism is not merely a sectoral agenda, but rather part of a national strategy to strengthen the sharia economy, encourage high-value investment, and increase Indonesia's competitiveness at the global level.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, spoke at the Driving Indonesia's Halal Industry Competitiveness & Global Export Readiness event at the Kadin Tower, Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, stating that inclusive tourism policies are a key direction for national development.

Muslim-friendly services are designed to elevate destination service standards without altering the character and identity of local cultures.

These services are complementary, ensuring that destinations remain open and comfortable for all tourists, from all backgrounds.

To strengthen Indonesia's position globally, the Ministry of Tourism collaborated across institutions, including Bank Indonesia and other strategic partners, through the launch of the Indonesia Muslim Travel Index (IMTI) 2025.

This index serves as a measure of provincial readiness in developing Muslim-friendly tourism that aligns with international standards.

Fifteen provinces were designated as priority provinces, with Aceh and Banten receiving special recognition for their unique cultural and destination management.
