RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has announced a massive budgetary commitment to support non-ASN (non-civil servant) teachers, earmarking over IDR 14 trillion (USD 0.83 billion)for various allowances throughout 2026. 

This strategic move aims to elevate the dignity and professional status of independent educators, ensuring they receive the financial security needed to foster a high-quality learning environment.

Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Dirjen GTKPG) Nunuk Suryani emphasized that the government is tackling teacher welfare through a multi-faceted approach. 

Over the past five years, the administration has already transitioned more than 900,000 honorary teachers into the ASN PPPK (Government Employees with Work Agreements) scheme, providing them with stable legal and professional status.

"We fully recognize and understand the challenges faced by teachers, both civil servants and non-civil servants. Therefore, the government is committed to strengthening a number of strategic policies, including teacher status management, certification, welfare, and protection," Nunuk said on Monday, January 26, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The 2026 budget introduces substantial increases across three primary categories of financial support to better reward educators for their service. To provide immediate relief, the government has implemented Increased Monthly Incentives, raising the payout for non-ASN teachers from IDR 300,000 to IDR 400,000. 

The ministry has budgeted IDR 1.8 trillion, an increase of over IDR 1 trillion from the previous year, to cover 377,143 recipients.

Furthermore, the Teacher Professional Allowance (TPG) has been bolstered, ensuring that certified non-ASN teachers will now receive IDR 2 million per month, a significant jump from the previous IDR 1.5 million. 

The government has allocated IDR 11.5 trillion to support nearly 393,000 teachers in meeting this new standard of professional recognition. Finally, the budget prioritizes Special Allowances for 3T Regions, providing teachers in remote, frontier, and outermost areas with a monthly allowance of IDR 2 million. 

This specific budget has grown by IDR 95 billion to reach a total of IDR 706 billion, supporting 28,892 educators on the front lines of national education.

Beyond direct financial aid, the Ministry continues to facilitate the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program. Between 2024 and 2025, over 750,000 non-ASN teachers participated in PPG, granting them equal access to professional certification and the accompanying financial benefits.

"Through PPG, teachers have the right to equal opportunities to obtain teacher certification as professional recognition and as an effort to improve the quality of educational services," Nunuk added.
