RRI.CO.ID, Banjarnegara - Indonesia has officially launched the Indonesian Student Pledge to strengthen national student character education. The historic first reading took place during a flag ceremony at SMP Negeri 2 Wanadadi, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java, Monday, 26 January 2026. The initiative also highlights the government’s focus on creating safer learning environments.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education reinforced character education through the formal reading of the Indonesian Student Pledge. Minister Abdul Mu’ti announced the policy while presiding over the flag ceremony.

The event was attended by combined participants from primary and junior high schools across Banjarnegara Regency. Abdul Mu’ti said the ceremony marked a historic milestone for Indonesian education.

It was the first official recitation of the Indonesian Student Pledge during a flag ceremony. The pledge represents the implementation of the President’s mandate to Indonesian students.

The Indonesian Student Pledge contains five core commitments mandated by the President. These commitments include studying diligently, respecting parents and teachers, living harmoniously with peers, and loving Indonesia.

“These five messages are a mandate from the President for all of you to become a great Indonesian generation. A generation that always has a high learning spirit, respects parents, respects teachers, lives in harmony with friends, and loves our homeland, Indonesia,” Abdul Mu’ti stated.

In addition to strengthening character values, the government is also prioritizing learning environments. Physical school conditions and atmosphere are considered essential to student development. Safe and comfortable schools are expected to support effective learning.

“The President is committed to improving schools across Indonesia, so that all of them become comfortable schools for us to learn in. Furthermore, we also want to cultivate a school atmosphere where we can all live in harmony and feel safe while we are learning,” Abdul Mu’ti conveyed.

The minister also mentioned that the commitment reflects the actualization of Ministerial Regulation Number 6 of 2026. The regulation emphasizes safe, comfortable, clean, and orderly school environments. These standards aim to support sustainable learning activities.
