RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, in an official Instagram posted by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday, 25 January 2026, inaugurated the Temporary Housing, in Agam Regency, West Sumatra. According to him, temporary housing is one of the solutions most anticipated by affected residents, particularly to accelerate their relocation from evacuation sites.
“Because temporary housing is indeed one of the solutions most awaited to reduce the number of evacuees,” Tito Karnavian stated.
He also explained that the government classifies the level of damage to residents’ houses into three categories: minor damage, moderate damage, and severe damage or total loss. For houses classified as having minor damage, the government provides stimulant assistance of IDR 15 million, while houses with moderate damage receive assistance of IDR 30 million.
“Among the evacuees, there are those whose homes suffered minor damage, moderate damage, and severe damage. For minor damage, stimulant assistance of 15 million rupiah is provided, while for moderate damage, 30 million rupiah,” Tito said.
Meanwhile, for residents whose homes were severely damaged or destroyed, the government has prepared permanent housing. However, before the permanent housing is completed, communities are given the option to stay in temporary housing, live with relatives, or rent a house.
For residents who do not occupy temporary housing, the government provides Waiting Housing Assistance (Dana Tunggu Hunian/DTH). Tito emphasized that all of these assistance schemes are the responsibility of National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
“For those who do not occupy temporary housing, Waiting Housing Assistance is still provided,” he explained.
In addition, the Minister of Home Affairs revealed that the Ministry of Social Affairs has also prepared additional assistance in the form of IDR 3 million for household furnishings, IDR 5 million in economic stimulus assistance, and food assistance (living cost support) of IDR 15,000 per person.
The government is also implementing an agricultural land revitalization program through the Ministry of Agriculture in three affected provinces. Furthermore, communities experiencing economic decline after the disaster may be integrated into the Family Hope Program (PKH) to receive regular social assistance for a period determined by the regional Government.
