RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Culture and Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) aim to expand the Cultural Endowment Fund through the Indonesiana Fund in the 2026 fiscal year, to increase budget and beneficiaries. They plan to achieve this by strengthening outreach and mentoring for communities, institutions, and cultural practitioners throughout Indonesia.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon conveyed this information during a working meeting with Commission X at the Nusantara I Building in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

The Indonesiana Fund is a government funding program from the Cultural Endowment Fund. The program supports communities, institutions, and cultural practitioners to sustain, develop, and enhance Indonesian culture.

In 2025, the Indonesiana Fund supported 433 cultural groups or communities, 248 cultural institutions, and 2,163 individuals through six programs: Documentation of Masterpieces of Knowledge; Support for Cultural Interaction; Study of Cultural Advancement and Cultural Heritage Objects; Creation of Innovative Creative Works; Utilization of Public Spaces; and Sustainable Cultural Heritage.

During the same period, the Indonesiana Fund received 6,431 proposals from 36 provinces, a 200.53 percent increase compared to 2024. A total of IDR 383.68 billion was allocated to 2,843 beneficiaries. This achievement demonstrates the growing participation and public trust in the Indonesiana Fund.

The government is committed to accountability, transparency, and sustainability for the Cultural Endowment Fund's use, to ensure benefits for current and future generations.

Minister Fadli Zon, emphasized that the management of the Indonesiana Fund is clearly regulated by Presidential Regulation No. 111/2021 concerning endowment funds in the education and culture sector.

"The Endowment Fund's development is handled by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), with the Ministry of Culture determining which activities are funded. The Ministry of Finance disburses the budget, while the Ministry of Culture selects and approves beneficiaries," he said, as quoted by the ministry's website.

According to Minister Fadli, this mechanism ensures the professional and accountable management of the Cultural Endowment Fund within the framework of national cultural policy.

In 2026, the Indonesiana Fund will undergo a policy transformation phase. This includes rebranding the program and adjusting funded activities to align with the ministry's agenda.

It will also enhance the role of the 30 Cultural Preservation Centers and three offices in the selection process. The service application will be developed to simplify and expedite the process in a transparent and accountable manner.

The Indonesiana Fund will also expand its support for the national film ecosystem by supporting and facilitating funding for the development and post-production stages of works, in addition to the matching fund scheme.

The Indonesiana Fund is dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Indonesia, including UNESCO-recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage such as wayang, batik, angklung, and gamelan. This commitment ensures the continuity and enrichment of these traditions for future generations.

Through this policy transformation, based on tangible achievements and accountable governance, the Indonesiana Fund is expected to continue to be a key driver of inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive Indonesian cultural development. ***
