RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: Investment outside Java Island throughout January–December 2025 reached Rp991.2 trillion, or 51.3 percent of total national investment realization, with Central Sulawesi recording economic growth of 8 percent and North Maluku exceeding 20 percent. It is far above the national economic growth rate of around 5 percent.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani made the statement during the Press Conference on Investment Realization for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year of 2025 in Jakarta, Thursday, 15 January 2026.
He stated that the dominance of investment outside Java reflects increasingly strong development equity, particularly in regions that serve as centers for natural resource downstreaming. Throughout 2025, total national investment realization reached Rp1,931.2 trillion.
Rosan explained that investment flowing into Central Sulawesi has had a direct impact on the region’s economic growth. “And I can also say that this has affected their economic growth. For example, Central Sulawesi if nationally we are around 5 percent, they reached 8 percent economic growth in Central Sulawesi,” Rosan said at the press conference.
He noted that investment in Central Sulawesi is mainly concentrated in Morowali and North Morowali regencies, which have become key areas for mineral downstreaming. According to Rosan, this concentration of investment has driven increased economic activity and job creation in the region.
In addition to Central Sulawesi, North Maluku has also recorded a significant surge in economic growth. “And even now, I see that North Maluku’s economic growth has reached more than 20 percent, far above the national level. The contribution from downstreaming has proven to have a very positive impact on North Maluku and its people,” Rosan said.
Rosan emphasized that the high economic growth in North Maluku is influenced by contributions from the downstreaming sector, which directly benefits local communities. He added that investment in the region continues to increase along with the development of natural resource–based industrial areas.
