RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Islamic Museum KH Hasyim Asy’ari, known as MINHA, has reopened its public visitation services after completing a comprehensive revitalization program. The museum is located within the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School complex in Jombang, East Java, near the burial site of Indonesia’s fourth president, KH Abdurrahman Wahid.
The reopening was officially announced in Jakarta, Wednesday, 14 January 2026. It is marked by a trial visitation period scheduled to run from January 13 to 31 January 2026.
MINHA is managed by the Directorate of Museums and Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. The revitalization forms part of the government’s broader effort to protect and develop museums as spaces for cultural preservation and centers for public education on the history of Islam in Indonesia.
Through the revitalization process, MINHA now presents a refreshed, more informative, and contextual appearance. The exhibition layout, visitor flow, and historical narratives have been reorganized in a more systematic and communicative manner to enhance the overall visitor experience.
The revitalization is expected to strengthen MINHA’s role as a learning center for Islamic values, tolerance toward cultural diversity, and the exemplary legacy of national Islamic scholar KH Hasyim Asy’ari in Indonesia’s historical journey.
During the trial visitation period, which will continue until 31 January 2026, the museum is offering free admission to all visitors. This trial phase is intended to assess the readiness of facilities, service systems, and the overall safety, comfort, and educational quality of the visitor experience.
