KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian government has reinforced its commitment to promoting digital literacy and developing national digital talent. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is doing this through cooperation with 35 strategic partners.

This step was taken because the digital space is moving much faster than the regulatory cycle. Therefore, a co-creation mechanism between the government and industry players is needed.

“We believe that strategic partners play a significant role thanks to their training reach, learning technology innovations, and extensive community networks that extend to the grassroots level,” said Bonifasius Wahyu Pujianto, Head of the Human Resources Development Agency at the Ministry, on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

He said that this collaboration is expected to produce solutions that are adaptive to technological developments, media consumption patterns, and the increasing risk of cybercrime.

The MoU signing with 35 strategic partners is considered to be of great relevance. This is because the cooperation document is adaptive, opens up room for exploration, and will be valid for the next three years.

“This collaboration is aimed at producing relevant digital literacy modules, strengthening risk anticipation against new technologies, and mitigation measures against deepfake threats and AI-based information manipulation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid highlighted the increasing risks in the digital space, especially for children and women. Although the internet brings many benefits, various public records show serious concerns regarding digital security.

“In several recent cases, we have noted that internet abuse can lead children to harmful content, such as sexual exploitation and online gambling, which are among the negative excesses that cause great harm to society,” said Minister Meutya.

She emphasized the urgency of preserving the internet’s positive benefits while shielding the public from its negative impacts. For this reason, collaboration among various parties is considered crucial.

“The government prepares regulations, but those closest to the community are educators, youth activists, regional heads, and organizations. They are the ones who deal directly with the community every day,” said Minister Meutya.

The government also emphasizes the need for digital literacy that reaches grassroots groups, including vulnerable groups, students, women, MSMEs, religious communities, and rural communities. (Gusti Panji/Sri Wahyuni)
