Indonesian Govt Finalizing Tougher Rules Against Online Gambling

KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Law has confirmed that the Government Regulation (PP) on eradicating online gambling is in the final harmonization stage. Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas announced that the regulation will be completed soon.

"It is currently undergoing harmonization and will be finalized soon. The Ministry of Law has been tasked with overseeing the process, and we expect it to be completed soon," Minister Supratman said in a written press release on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

The Indonesian government is prioritizing efforts to combat online gambling, citing its significant impact on society.

"The President has stressed the importance of preventive measures against online gambling due to its severe consequences. We are awaiting a report from the Directorate General of Legislation to finalize the regulation in coordination with all ministries," Supratman explained.

Previously, Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid announced that President Prabowo Subianto would issue a government regulation to strengthen enforcement against online gambling.

"One of the upcoming steps is the issuance of a regulation, likely in the form of a Government Regulation (PP). This regulation will enforce stricter measures to tackle online gambling," Minister Meutya stated after a meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, June 17, 2025. ***
