RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government has officially extended the Work From Home (WFH) policy. This decision was made based on the results of an evaluation of the WFH implementation over the past two months.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the WFH policy, which has been in effect for two months, has had a positive impact. One of these is a 9 percent decrease in fuel usage, particularly Pertalite.
“We just evaluated the WFH policy over the past two months, and the results are quite good. There was also a 9 percent decrease in Pertalite usage in April, so the results are quite positive. Therefore, it was decided to extend the policy for the next two months,” Airlangga said following a Limited Ministerial Coordination Meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, as quoted from the ministry’s press release.
Coordinating Minister, Airlangga, also stated that follow-up policies regarding WFH will soon be implemented by ministries and agencies. These policies also apply to the private sector.
Previously, Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, had issued Circular Letter No. M/6/HK.04/III/2026 on Work From Home and the Energy Utilization Optimization Program in the Workplace, signed on March 31, 2026. The letter aims to strengthen national energy resilience while promoting productive, adaptive, and sustainable work patterns.
“Leaders of private companies, state-owned enterprises, and regionally-owned enterprises are urged to implement Work From Home for employees/workers for one working day per week in accordance with company conditions, with WFH hours determined by the company,” the Minister of Manpower said, as quoted from a press release by the Ministry of State Secretariat on April 1, 2026.
