National Library Collaborate with Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Providing Integrated Journals and KKN Literacy

KBRN, Jakarta : The National Library of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding.

National Library together with Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology will collaborate in providing integrated journal access facilities and creating a research tool database system that can be used for the needs of universities. This is to facilitate access to electronic journals for readers and researchers in searching for references before conducting research.

In addition, the two parties will collaborate in the Thematic Literacy Community Service (KKN) program involving various universities in Indonesia. This collaboration is carried out in order to strengthen the reading culture and literacy skills of the community.

Through this collaboration, the Head of National Library E. Aminudin Aziz hopes that various programs that are awaited by the community can be worked on together and presented to the community.

"We want this collaboration to be one of the efforts to improve the literacy competence of the community by providing access to quality reading materials that suit the needs of the community," he said at the Ministry of Education and Science Office, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/3/2025).

At the higher education level, the Head of the National Library hopes that the integrated journal provision program and student participation in the Thematic Literacy Community Service Program (KKN) can be carried out immediately.

"In accordance with the vision of the National Library's change, namely the Library is Present for the Dignity of the Nation, we want the presence of the National Library to be felt through real programs that are carried out," he said.

On the other hand, the Minister of Education and Science, Brian Yuliarto, admitted that he was ready to collaborate to help advance the National Library as an icon of knowledge in society.

"So there is a link, for example, where sources of knowledge in Indonesia can be well coordinated, sources of knowledge on campuses can be searched through the National Library," he added.

Minister Brian emphasized that through this collaboration, activities that have been carried out by universities can be coordinated by the National Library.

"Subscribing to journals, for example. No longer sporadic, but can be managed better by the National Library and its financing is also more efficient. That is the impact of better coordination," he said.

He explained that his party is trying to encourage the National Library to become an exciting place, so that children and students can make better use of the library.

"As President Prabowo hopes that Indonesia will be more advanced in the field of science and technology in Indonesia," he concluded.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two institutions was carried out by the Main Secretary of the National Library Joko Santoso and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Science Togar M Simatupang witnessed by the Head of the National Library and the Minister of Education and Science.
