KBRN, Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto has instructed that the construction of the new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), be accelerated. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the construction of the IKN will follow the set deadline.
“As directed by President Prabowo Subianto, we will continue the construction of the IKN. Of course, we will follow the timeline and stages that have been previously set as an explanation to the wider community,” said AHY after attending a limited meeting to accelerate the construction of IKN at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, as reported by rri.co.id.
He explained that the construction of IKN will focus on the concept of a political capital by completing the construction of government facilities including those of the legislative institutions (the House of Representatives, Regional Representative Council, the People's Consultative Assembly) and the judicial institutions.
This, according to AHY, is in accordance with President Prabowo's vision to create a complete governance that reflects democracy. With this completeness, the tasks and political activities of the government can proceed smoothly.
“The President's hope is to focus there first. If all three functions are already established, then we can actually carry out the tasks of political activities, both the daily and strategic ones," he said.
President Prabowo and his staff also discussed combined funding sources of a combination between the state budget sources and non-state budget sources through cooperation with private sectors.
The government hopes that the private sectors can contribute positively and are also integrated well in the IKN development project.
“This is the presence of good cooperation between the government and business entities," he said.
Head of the IKN Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono on the occasion said that the government had invested IDR 89 trillion (USD 5.4 billion) from the state budget to build important infrastructure including toll roads, residential towers, and drinking water systems.
In addition, private investment of IDR 58.41 trillion has also been mobilized as of September 2024. Basuki said that his side will optimize the participation of private sectors in the IKN development. ***
