JFC 2026 Promotes Eco-Sustainability via Street Fashion Parade

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A message of healing the Earth resonated along the route of the Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) 2026 parade, held 24–26 July 2026 at Central Park square, Jember Regency, East Java. Through the colossal theatrical performance Dewi Bumi (Goddess of the Earth) and a 3.6-kilometer costume parade, JFC 2026 used costume art to campaign for environmental sustainability, drawing the attention of thousands of visitors.
“JFC 2026 proves that costume art and culture can be effective media to convey a global message about environmental sustainability,” said JFC President, Budi Setiawan, in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday, 27 July 2026.
This year’s carnival carried the theme Heal: Humanity, Earth and Life to amplify sustainability messages. Those messages were delivered through four main programs and eight theatrical defiles that highlighted humanitarian values, cultural diversity, and environmental care.
The creative approach reinforced tourism’s role as an educational platform while supporting the development of quality, sustainable tourism.
As a flagship event under the Ministry of Tourism’s Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program, JFC opened its main event with the colossal theatrical show Dewi Bumi. The programme continued with a 3.6-kilometer fashion parade from Central Park to the PKPSO Kaliwates sports complex in Jember.
“The presence of thousands of domestic and international visitors proves that the creativity of our people is the primary attraction for regional tourism,” said Budi, as quoted by Antara.
He also asserted that JFC 2026 demonstrated its capacity as a reliable promotional instrument for regional tourism, capable of attracting both domestic and international visitors.
Tourism Minister, Widiyanti Putri Wardana, said JFC is an important component of KEN that successfully mobilizes thousands of tourists. She added that the cultural festival produces a significant multiplier effect across hotels, transportation, culinary businesses, and local artisans.
Citing 2025 figures, the minister noted JFC drew 557,509 domestic visitors and 284 foreign tourists; involved 106 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); 2,643 artists; and 558 workers; generating economic turnover of IDR 60.21 billion (USD 3.34 million). The participation of talents from Jember and other regions of Indonesia demonstrates that JFC has become an inclusive celebration of the arts and an educational platform for preserving cultural traditions.
Therefore, the minister assured that the Ministry of Tourism, through the KEN program, will continue to support JFC to strengthen Jember Regency’s and Indonesia’s position on the global fashion and tourism stage. ***
