RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Music festivals and concerts remain a popular form of entertainment in Indonesia. Beyond watching their favorite musicians perform, many people also attend to enjoy the unique experiences that each event offers.

A survey by Surv by Lokadata conducted in 2024 involving 1,692 respondents aged 18 to 34 found that concerts and music festivals were the top entertainment choice among respondents, with 34 percent selecting them. Another survey of 1,707 respondents showed that 37 percent preferred music festivals, while 29 percent chose to attend solo concerts by their favorite artists.

As public interest continues to grow, event organizers have introduced a variety of festival concepts that offer visitors different and memorable experiences.

Picnic-style concerts

This concept provides a more relaxed atmosphere than usual concerts, as visitors can enjoy live performances while sitting on picnic mats instead of standing throughout the event. Examples include Bigu Festival and Sunset di Kebun, which combine live music with food and an outdoor setting.

Festivals with scenic natural landscapes

This concept allows visitors to enjoy live music surrounded by mountain views and cool weather. One example is Dieng Culture Festival, which combines jazz performances with the natural beauty and local culture of the Dieng Highlands.

Concerts with water attractions

This concept combines live music with waterpark activities, giving visitors more than just a concert experience. Riang Riuh Festival is one example, offering water attractions as part of its entertainment program.

A blend of cultural heritage and music

This concept brings live performances to heritage sites, creating a unique atmosphere for visitors. One example is Prambanan Jazz Festival, which stages concerts against the magnificent backdrop of Prambanan Temple.

These diverse concepts show that music festivals in Indonesia have evolved beyond live performances. Today, they also offer memorable experiences that combine music, tourism, nature, and culture.
