RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Prominent guitarist and producer Ade Nurulianto, widely known as Ade Govinda, has expressed a strategic vision to further integrate the Indonesian and Malaysian music markets.
Speaking at MyMusic Records in Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Friday, April 17, 2026, Ade emphasized that the exceptional talent of Indonesian musicians warrants a broader stage within the Southeast Asian region.
"If it's still possible, and it is quite possible, we should work on expansion in Malaysia. In my opinion, Indonesian musicians are all 'top-tier' now; they are very skilled, especially the contemporary artists," Ade remarked, as quoted by Antara.
Ade views the synergy between the two nations as a natural progression due to the linguistic similarities between the Indonesian and Malay languages. While he acknowledges that reaching a global audience often requires English, citing the success of artists like Niki Zefanya, he believes the one root (satu rumpun) connection remains a potent tool for regional growth.
Over the past three years, his band Govinda has actively promoted their live albums in Malaysia, building on the momentum of their 2024 Hal Hebat concert in Kuala Lumpur.
By leveraging the emotional resonance of their lyrics, which are easily understood by Malaysian listeners, the band aims to extend the reach of their recent work, including the album Govinda Live Studio Session - London 2023, recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.
The press conference also served as the launchpad for Ade’s latest collaborative single, Terbelah Jadi Dua, featuring solo artist Gloria Jessica. Released across all digital platforms on April 17, 2026, the track serves as the opening act for his upcoming conceptual album titled Blue.
The project boasts high-caliber musical contributions, featuring vocal production managed by Barsena Bestandhi alongside Ade Govinda to ensure a polished and emotive sound.
Additionally, the music video is directed by Bagoes Tresna and presents a cinematic narrative brought to life by a talented cast, including Yasamin Jasem, Daffa Saputra, Shalima Hakim, and Handry Hartantio.
Ade Govinda’s strategy is a prime example of regional cultural integration. By focusing on Malaysia as a primary extension of the domestic market, he is tapping into a low-friction export model where the shared linguistic heritage eliminates the need for translation, allowing the emotional nuance of the songwriting to remain intact.
Furthermore, the launch of the Blue album project suggests a shift toward more thematic, aesthetic-driven releases. By combining the prestige of international recording history (Abbey Road) with regional collaborations, Ade is positioning himself not just as a songwriter, but as a musical architect building a bridge between the Nusantara's distinct sounds and a more globalized pop production standard.
This regional synergy serves as a vital foundation for any Indonesian artist looking to eventually pivot toward the broader international stage. ***
