RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – In a major celebration of local vocal talent, Disney’s live-action Moana has introduced an Indonesian soundtrack infused with an Eastern Indonesian dialect, reflecting the oceanic and islander heritage of the original film.

The track, titled Sepanjang Jalan (adapted from Along the Way), features a collaboration between pop star Lyodra, rising talent Amora Lemos, and rapper-singer Siprianus Bukha, better known as Silet Open Up.

Siprianus, recognized for popularizing contemporary tracks with Eastern Indonesian musical inflections, deliberately integrated his native dialect when adapting and writing the localized verse.

The creative decision aims to showcase the linguistic richness of eastern regions such as East Nusa Tenggara and Maluku to a wider audience.

“I am very honored to have the opportunity to bring elements of my home region into that song,” Siprianus said in a press release issued by Disney Indonesia on Thursday, June 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He admitted that translating the track was a creative challenge, as he had to preserve the emotional meaning of Along the Way while weaving in localized phrases.

The finalized Indonesian snippet incorporates playful, island-centric cadence mixed with colloquial eastern phrasing:

Chee-hoo!

Moana!

Nona mau naik ke sanakah? (Miss, do you want to climb up there?)

Mau bagaimana sampai ke sana? (How are you going to get up there?)

Harus yakin ko trakan jatuh (You must be sure that you won’t fall)

Siprianus revealed that writing the dialect-driven verse was an intense experience, as the lyrics were composed directly in the recording booth within 15 to 30 minutes.

“Even though I was quite worried, it turned out to be a very special experience,” he remarked.

Sepanjang Jalan has already debuted on major global streaming platforms, serving as a localized promotional anchor to bring Moana’s maritime quest closer to Indonesian audiences.

The live-action adaptation of Disney’s Oscar-nominated animated classic premiered in Indonesian theaters on July 8, 2026. To sustain promotional momentum, the official music video for the localized track will be released worldwide via the DisneyAsiaMusicVEVO YouTube channel on July 17.

The film follows Moana, portrayed by Catherine Lagaʻaia, as she answers the ocean's ancestral call to sail beyond Motunui Island’s reefs. She joins forces with the legendary demigod Maui, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, on an epic mission to restore the heart of Te Fiti and save her people.

Directed by Emmy and Tony Award-winner Thomas Kail, the film is produced by Dwayne Johnson, Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. ***
