RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Ahead of the release of Pelangi di Mars (Rainbow on Mars), the Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy expressed its appreciation to the entire production team. The statement was delivered by Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry, Agustini Rahayu.

Ayu emphasized that this marks the first Indonesian film to utilize Extended Reality technology powered by Unreal Engine. This innovation enables real-time integration of live action with XR.

She noted that Pelangi di Mars demonstrates how Indonesia’s film industry is advancing in terms of production technology. “This film reflects Indonesia’s boldness in exploring the sci-fi genre, which has rarely been pursued in our national cinema,” Ayu remarked during the Intimate Screening of the film at Plaza Senayan XXI, Jakarta, on Friday, March 13, 2026.

The Deputy also highlighted that the film raises the issue of environmental sustainability -- an important message, especially for younger generations who are increasingly concerned about the future of our planet.

Director Upie Guava explained that Pelangi di Mars is a creative dedication to Indonesian youth. He described the film as a modern heroic tale designed to inspire children across the nation.

“We introduce Pelangi, a character representing an astronaut, alongside Batik, a sophisticated robot symbolizing Indonesia’s pride. Our hope is that this sense of curiosity will become a valuable foundation for the younger generation to realize the vision of ‘Indonesia Mars’ in the future,” Upie said.

The Ministry of Creative Economy expressed hopes that Pelangi di Mars will inspire Indonesian filmmakers to experiment with diverse genres and cutting-edge technologies. “At the same time, it shows that local filmmakers are capable of producing science fiction works that meet global standards,” Ayu concluded.
