RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Director Wregas Bhanuteja’s latest film, Para Perasuk (Levitating), has released its official trailer after receiving warm reviews at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. The film had its world premiere at the festival, where it received a positive response from audiences.

The trailer features the main cast, including Angga Yunanda, Anggun, Maudy Ayunda, Bryan Domani, and Chicco Kurniawan. The film also stars Ganindra Bimo and Indra Birowo.

The story is set in Latas Village, a small settlement on the outskirts of the city known for its tradition of possession parties. In this community, certain individuals have the ability to lead others into a trance.

Angga Yunanda, Bryan Domani, and Chicco Kurniawan portray students of Anggun’s character. They aspire to become Perasuk, figures capable of leading possession rituals during the village’s Sambetan festival.

Conflict arises when the sacred spring, believed to be the source of the Perasuk’s power, is threatened with destruction. The spring is regarded as the place where the Perasuk seek spirits involved in the rituals.

The threat sparks resistance among Latas Village residents, who strive to defend their territory. The trailer also highlights the villagers' solidarity in preserving their traditions and way of life.

According to Wregas Bhanuteja, the Sambetan and possession festivals depicted in the film reflect communal experiences often found in Indonesian society. These traditions serve as a way for residents to relieve stress and strengthen social bonds.

The film also portrays the conflict that emerges when external forces attempt to take over Latas Village, prompting residents to fight to preserve their living space and traditions.

Levitating is produced by Siera Tamihardja, Iman Usman, and Amalia Rusdi under Rekata Studio. It is scheduled for release in Indonesian theaters in 2026. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
