RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta - Road to Jogja Fashion Week (JogFW) 2026 offers a new experience to support healthy living while still looking attractive. The innovative Sportswear Fair at the 21st JogFW will further support sports, which has become a lifestyle for today's society.

The Head of the Yogyakarta Special Region Industry and Trade Office, Yuna Pancawati, said that each year, JogFW always presents the latest innovations as supporting events, one of which is the Sportswear Show. This pre-event agenda is expected to further accommodate many sectors related to the fashion industry.

"This will be a pre-event agenda planned for June, and it aims to facilitate distributors and screen printing businesses that have a different target market than the main activities at JogFW 2026," he said at the launch of Jogja Fashion Week (JogFW) at the Creative Innovation Center (GIK) at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

As part of JogFW 2026's overarching theme, "Roots of Resonance," which emphasizes the innovative journey of Yogyakarta fashion that remains rooted in traditional heritage, it is hoped that it will further expand the fashion market, focusing not only on aesthetics and trends, but also on function, performance, comfort, and the active lifestyles of urban communities and the sports community.

"So, we accommodate those who enjoy sports in the morning, or even in the afternoon or evening, like padel," she said.

Yogyakarta Regional Secretary Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti said that JogFW's two decades of history represent Yogyakarta's consistency in developing a culture-based creative industry.

It's not just a passing trend, but rather a growing ecosystem that brings together creativity, entrepreneurship, education, and the market in one collaborative space.

"Fashion is not only a platform for creativity, but also a space for production, distribution, and innovation that drives the local economy. The presence of senior designer associations, academics, MSMEs, banks, and industry partners in this forum demonstrates that we are not working alone but are building an increasingly solid collaborative network,"

he said.

GKBRAA Paku Alam X, Deputy Chairperson of the Yogyakarta Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda), said that Jogja Fashion Week is a moment for all stakeholders across generations to collaborate to ensure that traditional heritage remains relevant to the younger generation and is recognized on the international stage. He expressed hope that the series of events leading up to August will serve as an incubator for fresh new ideas and strengthen the fashion ecosystem in Yogyakarta and throughout Indonesia.

"Through Jogja Fashion Week 2026, we want to demonstrate that our local products are of world-class quality," he said.

The culmination of Jogja Fashion Week will take place from August 13-16, 2026, at the Jogja Expo Center. Jogja Fashion Week presents a series of exhibitions, educational events, and fashion shows that serve as an effective medium for interaction and transactions for business actors in the fashion sector, thus establishing good and sustainable economic communication. ***
