Pakistan Honor Highlights Growing Naval Defense Cooperation with Indonesia

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Defense cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan received fresh recognition as Pakistan awarded one of its highest military honors to Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali, underscoring growing collaboration between the two countries' naval forces.

Admiral Muhammad Ali has received Pakistan’s prestigious military decoration, the Nishan‑e‑Imtiaz (Military), from President Asif Ali Zardari during a ceremony at Aiwan‑e‑Sadr Presidential Palace in Islamabad on Monday, September 14, 2026.

According to an official statement from the Indonesian Navy released in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 16, the award recognizes Admiral Ali’s significant contributions to strengthening military cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan.

Indonesian Navy Spokesperson Rear Admiral Tunggul explained that the honor reflects the depth of diplomatic ties between the two nations. “This award symbolizes the historic relationship between Indonesia and Pakistan, which has endured since the era of President Soekarno,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

The recognition also serves as a foundation for expanding defense collaboration between the Indonesian Navy and the Pakistan Navy. Joint activities include bilateral exercises, training programs, and knowledge exchanges on defense technology and weapon systems.

Tunggul expressed hope that the momentum created by this award will further reinforce bilateral relations. “We expect this achievement to strengthen cooperation for the benefit of both countries in the future,” he added.
