Putin Says Russia-Indonesia Trade Grows 12 Percent

RRI.CO.ID, Vladivostok - Russian President, Vladimir Putin, said economic and trade relations between Russia and Indonesia continue to grow. He made the statement during a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Vladivostok on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
He said trade between the two countries increased by 12 percent last year. He also noted that the Russia-Indonesia Joint Commission on economic, trade, and technical cooperation continues to work to strengthen bilateral ties.
“We are paying attention to developing bilateral cooperation in agriculture, shipbuilding, digital technology, and energy, particularly nuclear energy,” the President said.
Putin warmly welcomed Prabowo’s visit to Vladivostok and said it marked the second time the two leaders had met. He said the personal relationship between the two presidents also reflects the strategic nature of bilateral relations between Russia and Indonesia.
“This is the second time we have met, and I am very pleased. Our personal relationship reflects the strategic nature of bilateral relations between Russia and Indonesia,” he conveyed.
Putin emphasized that Indonesia is one of Russia’s key partners in the Asia-Pacific region. He said the two countries have maintained friendly relations for many years, while bilateral trade has continued to show positive growth.
Beyond bilateral cooperation, Putin highlighted the signing of a free trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union. Russia and Indonesia also continue to cooperate through various international platforms, including the United Nations and the ASEAN framework. Putin expressed confidence that his meeting with Prabowo would provide new momentum for relations between the two countries.
