Indonesia Enhances Business Networks Ahead of I–EAEU FTA Implementation

RRI.CO.ID, Moscow – Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Moscow, brought together Indonesian businesspeople with prospective buyers, importers, distributors, and business partners from Russia and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states at the Indonesia-EAEU Business Gathering held on the sidelines of World Food Moscow 2026 on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The event was part of efforts to prepare Indonesian businesses to take advantage of trade opportunities opened by the Indonesia-EAEU Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA).

According to an official statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, the ministry’s Director for Intra- and Inter-Regional Cooperation for the Americas and Europe emphasized the importance of involving the business community even before the agreement enters into force.

Early outreach and stronger business networks are expected to help companies understand available market opportunities and translate them into concrete commercial partnerships.

The Business Gathering also capitalized on the participation of six Indonesian companies in World Food Moscow 2026 to promote Indonesian food and beverage products while establishing direct connections with prospective business partners in Russia and the wider Eurasian region.

The event also introduced the Indonesia-Europe Business Forum (IEBF) and Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026 as platforms for businesses from Russia and EAEU member states to explore trade, investment, and partnership opportunities with Indonesian companies.

The meeting concluded with business-matching and networking sessions, which identified several potential partnerships in the spice, beverage, and processed food sectors for further follow-up by businesses and relevant stakeholders.

The I-EAEU FTA was signed on Dec. 21, 2025. Indonesia has ratified the agreement through a Presidential Regulation and is currently completing the administrative procedures required for its entry into force.
