RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian School of Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) began the 2026/2027 academic year on Monday, July 13, 2026, by welcoming students back with an emphasis on joyful learning, smooth classroom adaptation, and strengthening their sense of Indonesian identity while living overseas.
Education Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Ahmad Romadhoni Surya Putra, said the first day of school should be a positive experience for both students and teachers. "Like any first day of school, children should come with joy, and the school should welcome them with the same enthusiasm," Romadhoni said in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, July 13, as quoted by Antara.
Students from kindergarten through senior high school began adjusting to new classrooms and learning environments as the new academic year officially commenced.
Romadhoni expressed hope that homeroom teachers would help students adapt quickly so they could focus on their studies. "We want them to study diligently and believe that their efforts will not be in vain if they remain committed to learning," he said.
He also encouraged teachers to continue fostering a sense of nationalism among Indonesian students despite their residence abroad.
For the 2026/2027 academic year, SIKL is serving around 943 students from kindergarten to senior high school. The total includes 703 students enrolled in the school's formal education program and 240 students participating in the Community Learning Center's distance education program.
On the first day of school, students arrived with enthusiasm after the long holiday. Kindergarten and first-grade pupils were accompanied by their parents and were seen happily interacting with their new classmates. ***
