RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and Belarus have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in healthcare through medical education, pharmaceuticals, and specialist exchanges, with a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) set to be signed in the presence of both countries' presidents.

The agreement, marking 33 years of diplomatic relations, was finalized during a meeting between Indonesian Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono and Belarusian Health Minister Aliaksandr Khajayeu at the Mahar Mardjono National Brain Center Hospital in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

"Every country has something to teach, and every healthcare system has room for improvement. We agreed to discuss two key areas today: medical education and pharmaceutical cooperation," Deputy Minister Dante said, as quoted on the ministry's official website.

Indonesia is exploring fellowship programs in cardiology, oncology, neurology and stroke, urology, nephrology, and maternal and child health. The Ministry also plans to send a delegation to Belarus to assess its training programs while inviting Belarusian doctors to train Indonesian physicians.

"We will send a delegation to Belarus to evaluate the programs there and bring Belarusian doctors to Indonesia to provide training for our doctors," he said.

The two countries also agreed to expand pharmaceutical cooperation, including potential collaboration between Belarusian pharmaceutical company Belpharmprom and Indonesian manufacturers to improve access to medical products.

Minister Khajayeu welcomed Indonesia's proposals, saying the two countries already share similar regulatory standards for generic medicines.

"Our standards, especially for generic medicines, have no significant differences. We are ready to receive specialists directly to accelerate the process," he said.

The Belarusian delegation also toured the National Brain Center Hospital, which Indonesia highlighted as part of its ongoing healthcare transformation to expand comprehensive neurological services.

To support the partnership, Indonesia and Belarus have prepared an Operational Road Map for 2026-2030, aimed at ensuring the implementation of joint programs and strengthening healthcare resilience in both countries. ***
