Goverrnment: Muslim-Friendly Tourism Becomes a Driver of Shared Prosperity

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism is committed to strengthening the Muslim-friendly tourism ecosystem in Indonesia by improving service quality, destination readiness, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Senior Advisor to the Minister for Digital Transformation and Tourism Innovation of the Ministry of Tourism, Iyung Masruroh, made the statement at the 2026 International Islamic Expo in Jakarta on Friday, June 26, 2026.

She believes that tourism can provide prosperity. "Tourism is not only about destinations. It's about building connections, creating opportunities, and generating shared prosperity," she said.

In addition, she stated that Indonesia has significant capital to compete in the global Muslim tourism market. Its cultural diversity, natural beauty, rich culinary heritage, and friendly people are attractions that can provide diverse tourism experiences for tourists from various countries.

On the occasion, Iyung also highlighted Indonesia's achievement in once again receiving international recognition in the 2026 Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) as the world's second-ranked Muslim-friendly destination. "This recognition is a motivation to strengthen collaboration with our partners and continue improving our tourism ecosystem," she said.

She affirmed the Ministry of Tourism's commitment to continuously promoting quality tourism that provides meaningful experiences for tourists. She said such tourism must also provide sustainable economic, social, and environmental benefits for local communities.

Moreover, Iyung said the government continuously strengthens the Muslim-friendly tourism ecosystem by improving destination readiness, service quality, access, and collaboration with industry players. "Indonesia welcomes all of you not only as guests, but as our valued partners. We hope that the discussions, business meetings, and networks established during the International Islamic Expo 2026 will lead to meaningful collaboration and long-term partnerships that benefit all of us," she said.

Through the International Islamic Expo 2026, Iyung hopes that the various discussions, business meetings, and networks established will result in long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations. She also invited all parties to work together to make Muslim-friendly tourism a driver of sustainable development, inclusive economic growth, and strengthening relationships between people in various countries.
