RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Dave Laksono, welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel. According to Laksono, the momentum must be maintained to create regional stability, provide geopolitical certainty, and positively impact the global and Indonesian economies.

"Thank God, the peace plan between America and Iran and how it will impact Asian countries as a whole or especially those of us in the Southeast Asian region, and also its impact on the Indonesian economy," Dave conveyed in Jakarta on Thursday, June 25, 2026, as quoted by dpr.go.id.

Deputy chairperson of the House's Commission I, Dave further stated that the Middle East conflict has impacted several economic indicators, such as the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar, the movement of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI), and global oil prices. However, he noted that oil prices have begun to decline following the agreement to halt hostilities.

"Oil prices have already dropped; I saw it was below (US$)70. Hopefully, this will have a direct impact on the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar and stock market conditions in the near future, accompanied by domestic fiscal policies to ensure the situation stabilizes," Dave said.

Dave, of the centrist Golkar Party, hopes that all parties involved in the conflict will uphold their commitment to stopping the attacks. Therefore, he hopes for no further escalation that could potentially disrupt regional stability or the global economy.

"We are certainly positive about this agreement, even though it's still 60 days away. (U.S.) President Trump has already declared a halt to all attacks. This must also be accompanied by U.S. allies, especially Israel, preventing any further action. God willing, Netanyahu will uphold his promise, and President Trump can ensure that there are no further world-shaking dynamics," he said.

In this regard, Indonesia needs to continue to optimize its independent and active foreign policy by engaging with all parties and consistently promoting conflict resolution through peaceful means. Dave believes Indonesia can continue to play an active role in various international forums, including the UN, to oversee the implementation of peace agreements and encourage recovery and reconstruction in conflict-affected areas.

"We have a 'free and active' foreign policy, allowing us to communicate freely with all parties and continue to promote and maintain peace. We do not exert pressure, but rather support the realization of peace," Dave said.

"We can be active in various forums, including the UN, to ensure that peace principles are implemented so that regional economic development and the reconstruction of conflict-affected areas can proceed smoothly," he said.
