RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Jakarta is positioning itself as a hub for regional investment, with Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo inviting Singapore to participate in major urban infrastructure projects.
During a recent meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Prime Minister’s Office, Pramono highlighted opportunities in the Jakarta MRT Phase 3 and Phase 4 developments, as well as Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives designed to transform the capital into a global city.
In an official statement released in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Pramono emphasized that investing in Jakarta means gaining access to one of Southeast Asia’s largest markets.
“Investment flows into Jakarta will contribute to Indonesia’s growth, strengthen ASEAN’s economy, and create added value for regional partners, including Singapore,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
Beyond transport and urban development, Pramono assured that the Jakarta administration is committed to fostering a transparent, efficient, and consistent investment climate. He stressed that policy certainty is key to building investor trust.
“We want Singaporean businesses to know that Jakarta is committed to simplifying investment processes with clear regulations, efficient procedures, and consistent policies. I believe the trust and collaboration we strengthen today will lead us to shared success,” he added.
Pramono also underscored his long experience in government as an asset in building effective communication with strategic partners. His meeting with PM Wong reaffirmed ties that date back to their earlier roles in national government--Pramono as Indonesia’s Cabinet Secretary and Wong in several senior positions within Singapore’s administration.
That background, Pramono noted, helps align national policies with local implementation, offering greater certainty for investors. “My experience as Cabinet Secretary for two terms, and now as Governor of Jakarta, enables me to bridge national policies with local execution. This is crucial to provide confidence and assurance for investors,” he explained.
This engagement highlights Jakarta’s ambition to attract Singapore investment in MRT projects, strengthen Transit-Oriented Development initiatives, and reinforce its role as a global city in Southeast Asia. ***
