RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is moving closer to opening new job opportunities in Europe through a planned memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Albania on the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in the hospitality industry.
The initiative was discussed by Deputy Minister of Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection (P2MI) Christina Aryani during her meeting with Albania’s Chargé d’Affaires to Indonesia, Nikson Ballço, in Jakarta on Monday, June 15, 2026, according to a ministry press release.
Christina explained that the MoU will serve as a government-to-government framework, after which placements will proceed through a private-to-private scheme involving agencies in Albania and Indonesian migrant worker placement companies (P3MI).
“The MoU will become the basis of cooperation between the Ministry of P2MI and Albania’s Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation,” she said, as quoted by Antara.
The cooperation is expected to create legal, structured, and mutually beneficial opportunities for Indonesian workers. Christina noted that Albania is emerging as a tourism destination in Europe, requiring additional manpower to support the growth of its hospitality sector.
“This is an attractive opportunity for Indonesian migrant workers who have experience and competence in the sector,” she added.
Preparations for the MoU are aligned with the upcoming visit of Albania’s Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation to Indonesia at the end of July 2026.
Christina expressed hope that the agreement will serve as a gateway to new labor markets while expanding opportunities for Indonesian workers abroad. “We will ensure the entire process follows established mechanisms while prioritizing the protection of Indonesian migrant workers,” she concluded.
This development highlights Indonesia’s efforts to expand migrant worker opportunities in Europe, strengthen bilateral cooperation with Albania, and enhance protections through structured agreements in the hospitality sector. ***
