RRI.CO.ID, Jeddah - Indonesia reviewed the implementation of Hajj 2026 and outlined future service improvements. The discussion took place during the Exit Meeting of Amirul Hajj 2026 in Jeddah on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, praised this year's Hajj operations. He said services improved compared to last year despite the diverse backgrounds of Indonesian pilgrims.
He also underscored that successful Hajj management requires strong cooperation among many stakeholders. The Indonesian government, he said, could not deliver services effectively without broad institutional support.
The meeting also highlighted operational achievements during this year's pilgrimage season. Hajj Organizing Committee in Saudi Arabia (PPIH) Chairperson, Ian Heriyawan highlighted service adjustments to address emerging challenges and policy developments.
“We must focus on how cooperation between Hajj officers and syarikah will work. This also includes mitigation measures for Saudi policies regarding the appointment of syarikah,” Ian said.
He reported that Indonesia absorbed 99.6 percent of its Hajj quota this year. He added that around 30,500 pilgrims from 78 groups had already returned home.
Officials proposed ten recommendations to improve future services for Indonesian pilgrims. Priorities include better Mina facilities, transport reliability, healthcare diplomacy, environmental measures, and integrated mobility services.
The recommendations also encourage greater use of Indonesian products in catering services. Officials further suggested studying the feasibility of opening Taif Airport for future Hajj operations.
