Indonesia and Qatar Reaffirm Strategic Partnership

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen the existing bilateral relations and cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar.

During the meeting, Sheikh Saoud conveyed a special message from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, to President Prabowo. The President welcomed the message and reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to strengthening relations with Qatar.

The meeting also addressed the follow-up to bilateral cooperation in various strategic sectors. The two countries have previously strengthened their partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the Indonesia-Qatar strategic dialogue in April 2025.

This agreement aims to foster more intensive cooperation in various fields, including politics, regional and international issues, defense, security, counterterrorism, trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people relations.

The meeting took place in a spirit of mutual respect. Both parties agreed to continue fostering closer relations to support regional stability and prosperity. Indonesia and Qatar seek to enhance cooperation that benefits both nations. (Misni Parjiati)
