North Sumatra Opens Five-Sector Cooperation Opportunities with Victoria

RRI.CO.ID, Victoria – The Chairman of the North Sumatra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Firsal Dida Mutyara, stated that North Sumatra holds a strategic position as a trade and investment partner with the State of Victoria. This statement was delivered while he was speaking as a panelist at an international business forum in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Entitled "Partners in Growth, Five Sectors Trade in Both Directions – What Indonesia is Buying, What It Can Supply, and the Provincial Counterpart on the Other Side," the forum discussed various two-way economic cooperation opportunities between Indonesia and the State of Victoria. The presence of North Sumatra Kadin at this event is expected to strengthen business ties and expand market potential for both sides in the future.

During the forum, Dida stated that there are several sectors deemed to have great potential for development in the cooperation between North Sumatra and Victoria. These five sectors include food and agriculture, renewable energy, vocational education and training, tourism, and information technology.

"Indonesia and Australia, particularly Victoria, exhibit high economic complementarity. North Sumatra is not only ready to supply flagship commodities and manufactured products to the Australian market, but can also serve as a gateway for products, technology, and investment from Victoria into western Indonesia," Dida said.

In his presentation, Dida also outlined Indonesia's import needs as well as the potential of North Sumatra's commodities and products that can be developed for the Australian market. He added that approaching these five sectors is expected to build a balanced and mutually beneficial trade relationship while strengthening the regional industrial sector.

Dida hopes that this series of meetings can be followed up with concrete cooperation between the business communities of North Sumatra and Victoria. He also hopes for a long-term partnership.

"We hope that the dialogue and explorations conducted can be translated into transactions and long-term business partnerships that provide tangible benefits for both regions," he said.
