Jakarta–Berlin Expands Indonesia's Creative Network

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, discussed opportunities for creative economy collaboration between Indonesia and Berlin during a meeting with AsiaBerlin.
Opportunities discussed included creative talent exchange, strengthening startup networks, and expanding international market access for Indonesian creative talent.
"International collaboration should delivery tangible impact on Indonesian creative economy stakeholders, whether in the form of market access, global networks, or cross-border collaboration platforms. We want Indonesian talent to have greater opportunities to excel in the international ecosystem," said the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy during a meeting held at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
During the meeting, AsiaBerlin outlined several potential collaborative programs with the Ministry of Creative Economy, including Indonesia's participation in the 2026 AsiaBerlin Summit, the development of Jakarta-Berlin creative activations, and opportunities for Indonesian creators to participate in innovation forums and creative networks in Europe.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of strengthening Indonesia's position in the global creative ecosystem through cross-border collaboration.
"We want to demonstrate that Indonesia not only possesses creative products, but also the capacity to build influence through culture, innovation, and talent. Cross-border collaboration is crucial to further connect Indonesian creative works with the global ecosystem and strengthen their competitiveness," said the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Creative Economy also introduced several creative economy internationalization programs currently in preparation, including an Indonesian creative activation in Singapore that will involve the music, fashion, design, architecture, and hospitality subsectors.
According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, the program is designed to expand the exposure of local IP (Intellectual Property) while also opening market access and international networks for Indonesian creative economy stakeholders.
During the discussion, the two parties also discussed opportunities to strengthen the promotion of Indonesian creative products through a collaborative approach that connects culture, technology, and creative experiences, so that Indonesian creative works can have a more relevant presence in the global market.
AsiaBerlin also introduced the Urban Green Goods Design Competition, themed "Together for Tomorrow: Bridging Cities, Shaping Futures," inviting designers and creators to present works based on urban innovation and sustainability.
This competition is part of strengthening the creative relationship between Jakarta and Berlin and opening up space for cross-border design collaboration.
Daniel Tumewu, CEO and Co-Founder of Hi Incubator and AsiaBerlin Ambassador, explained that Berlin is currently developing as one of the centers of the creative and startup ecosystem in Europe, open to the exchange of ideas, culture, and innovation worldwide.
The Ministry of Creative Economy affirmed its commitment to continuously expanding international cooperation that will strengthen the capacity, market access, and competitiveness of Indonesian creative economy stakeholders at the global level.
